Begin with a warm minibus ride from the Tourist Information in Bergen, heading east into a stunning winter wonderland. Make your first scenic stop at the charming, snow-dusted waterfall, Tvindefossen. Before reaching this icy marvel, pause in the cozy Dale village for 20 minutes—perfect for a warming cup of coffee or snacks and a quick toilet break. Further along, arrive in Gudvangen, home to the legendary Viking Village of Njardarheimr. Meet the friendly inhabitants of Njardarheimr, transported over 1,000 years into winter’s embrace. In this picturesque Viking town, actively immerse yourself in a vibrant community passionate about sharing stories of Vikings, their daring journeys, craftsmanship, and longships. Wander freely through the historic wooden buildings, feel the touch of authentic Viking life, and learn about their building techniques, beliefs, cuisine, and craftsmanship—all amidst the snowy landscape. Hear captivating tales of Viking explorers, their adventures, and origins. Experience what it truly felt like to be a Viking in winter’s glow. This is a once-in-a-lifetime journey deep into history, wrapped in the peaceful magic of winter. After this immersive experience, enjoy a serene electric cruise through the silent, snow-covered Nærøyfjorden, arriving in the charming village of Flåm. Here, you’ll have approximately one hour to enjoy a cozy lunch and explore the scenic surroundings. Your guide will meet you in Flåm with more exciting details about the next part of your journey. From Flåm, embark on the legendary Flåm Railway—an awe-inspiring train ride through shimmering, snow-capped mountains and icy waterfalls. The journey begins as the train winds up from the fjord’s edge at Aurlandsfjord, ascending steeply into the majestic Norwegian mountains at Myrdal station. Marvel at the enchanting winter scenery—a sparkling blanket of frost, frozen waterfalls, and tunnels carved through the mountains. Over approximately 3½ hours, the train travels from sea level at the icy Sognefjord to the high, snowy peaks at 867 meters above sea level in Myrdal. This remarkable railway, one of the steepest standard-gauge lines in the world, showcases spectacular vistas through 20 tunnels, along rugged mountain slopes, and beside roaring waterfalls—an unforgettable winter spectacle. Your breathtaking journey concludes as you descend back down to Bergen, arriving at 6:17 PM. Your scenic train departs Flåm at 2:30 PM, with a transfer in Myrdal to the Bergen-bound train at 3:56 PM, offering a warm and cozy ride back through the winter wonderland of Western Norway. OBS: In October, the train times are different. You will get information about this upon arrival at the tour, or by e-mail some days before the tour. From November, the train times are back to normal as described in the text over.
