Description
Start your tour by minibus at the Tourist Information in Bergen, before heading to your first viewpoint in Trengereid, from where you have a fantastic view of the East Fjord and the island of Osterøy. There is also a small bakery and public toilets here. Stay here for 15 minutes before driving to the next stop.
Discover the enchanting Mørkhølsfossen waterfall, a hidden gem nestled in Tysse, Norway. This small waterfall is a delightful stopover on your journey to the Hardangerfjord. Easily accessible from the main road, Mørkhølsfossen offers a tranquil escape with its gentle cascades and serene surroundings.
Fossen Bratte means steep waterfall and that is a statement: The river Eikedalselva thunders down in a single drop over 79 meters. Make a short photo stop at this waterfall and then drive a few hundred meters along the old road to get an impression of what it was like to drive on Norwegian roads in the good old days.
The Steinsdalsfossen waterfall near Norheimsund is spectacular. Walk along the back of it without getting wet. The tourist information and public toilets are located directly at the car park. A short path over an old stone arch bridge then leads you to the waterfall. If you like, you can also stop off at a cozy café located directly behind the bridge and listen to the rushing of the stream. Stay here a little less than half an hour, the journey time to the next stop in Norheimsund is only about 10 minutes.
Discover the town of Norheimsund, beautifully located on the Hardangerfjord. In Norheimsund there are several restaurants and also a small shopping center with a bistro. We stay at this place for about 45 minutes, enough time for a short lunch break. The driver will show you where the bus will leave later. The ferry in Kvandal departs at 2 p.m., the crossing takes only 20 minutes. There are bathrooms and a small kiosk on the ferry. From the upper deck, make wonderful photos. It is a wonderful experience. Step into a wonderland as you arrive in the enchanting village of Utne on the Hardangerfjord. Preserving its old-world charm with well-kept streets and traditional wooden houses, Utne offers a rare glimpse into a bygone era.
The route from Utne to Jondal is a scenic drive along the Hardangerfjord on road 550. Make photo stops along the way as often as weather and time permit. Take a break in the village of Herand and stop at a small marina, beautifully situated on the Hardanger Fjord. There is a self-service kiosk and also public washrooms. The ferry from Jondal to Tørvikbygd departs at 15:20 on the dot. Cross the main arm of the Hardangerfjord here. There are bathrooms and a self-service café on the ferry. Go to the upper car deck and take photos from there. The landscape is stunning. At approximately 15:50 the ferry docks in Tørvikbygd. From here, make your way directly to Bergen, and return at the Bergen Tourist information around 17:30.
